Guestbook Sicily

On our previous website every accommodation category – holiday homes, apartments, borgo with swimming pool, with swimming poo and Masseria Mirabile – had its own guestbook page. Due to the large number of guestbook entries the pages became too long, so we decided to change the structure on this website:

If you’d like to read about the experiences our guests had in one of our apartments or holiday homes or about what they thought of our services and extras, you can now visit an information page of a holiday home or apartment and click on the testimonials tab. There you’ll find short key sentences from the guest book entries. All (complete) guestbook entries can be found at the bottom of the holiday home’s or apartment’s information page. Because we welcome many guests from The Netherlands and Belgium, most guestbook entries have been translated into English (the originals can be found here).

Apartments or holiday homes that are recently added, usually don’t have guest book entries yet. Once we receive the first entries, we will update their information pages.

Read below a few of our favorite guestbook entries:

“Kaat (10) and Amber (7) about the trip: “What we remember of our trip to Sicily? The burning sun on the large cacti, playing in the sea, many small towns and certainly the dolls in a museum in Palermo… and finally, Laura and Martijn’s sweet dog. Oh yes, and we also learned how to bake a pizza in Sicily and we learned how to snorkel. Actually, it was our best trip ever…!”

“Buongiorno Laura e Martijn!

Buongiorno Laura e Martijn!

It took a while to write something for your guestbook, but we want to you to know that we had a wonderful holiday in Sicily!

We enjoyed the beautiful house and the street where we “lived”! The holiday home was cozy and homely furnished and we cooked in the kitchen more than we planned to. With all the delicious fresh vegetables and pasta, you will automatically become a kitchen expert!

The girls have had a great time playing on the stairs, together with our neighbor’s granddaughters. Children make friends no matter what language they speak. Thanks to the neighbors, who could speak English and French, we felt at home and that was really special!

The town Castellammare del Golfo was very cozy, especially during the “Madonna” festivities with wonderful fireworks! We were one of the few foreign tourists. The atmosphere in the town was really not made for large amounts of tourists. That gave us the feeling that we were not on vacation but that we were living in another country!

With two small children (1 and 5 years old) we did not do much, but what we did was fun! We spent a day in Erice, where the temperature was very pleasant (about 27 degrees Celsius), then drove to San Vito lo Capo, which had a beautiful beach, but full of Italian tourists. Another day we spent in Parlermo, where we visited fun marketplaces and saw beautiful buildings. We did some shopping in Castellammare and Alcamo and drank delicious ice coffee.

We spent a lot of time on the beach. By recommendation of our neighbors, we found a beautiful quiet beach between Alcamo Marina and Balestrate. Because there was a small lido (Lido Greg) the beach was cleaned every day and it was wonderfully peaceful, with all conveniences, such as food, drinks, showers and toilets.

Overall a great holiday! Choosing a photo for your guest book was a difficult task, since our street was a very photogenic one, not to mention the rest of our trips (we made almost 1000 pictures!).

Thanks for all the tips and information and the real personal touch!

“Dear Laura and Martijn,

We had another lovely week in Sicily, also thanks to you guys. Everything was organized down to the last detail. Casa Giudeo is a great holiday home, partly due to its location in the middle of all those fruit trees.

In 2011, we visited the area of Cantania, but your region is much more relaxed. We had heard that it is incredibly chaotic in Palermo, but the opposite was true. The people here are very friendly. Highlights for us were Capo di Vito, Erice, Tonnerale scopello, Cefalu and Palermo.

Greetings, Bennie, Gea and Annet Bergman.”

“Dear Laura and Martijn,

Thank you very much for the lovely holiday. We very much enjoyed our stay in Balestrate. Due to the location of the house we have experienced the real Sicily. Despite our lack of Italian, the neighbors down the street (in particular the ones on the opposite side of the street) and the other residents on the island were very friendly, patient and helpful.

Every morning we had breakfast at del Golfo with delicious pastries and coffee.

Your service is really unique and nice. From the booking (nice last-minute deal) until our departure we experienced your help as very valuable and friendly.

We will definitely recommend and we’d love to come back again.

Kind regards,

Pieter & Eva.”

“We really had a fantastic week in Sicily! Finally another nice autumn holiday, we had withdrawal symptoms when we were back in the Netherlands!

We have been barbecuing in the courtyard. The second day we visited the nature reserve Lo Zingaro and swam there, it’s paradise. We also spent a day at the beach of Balestrate. The next day we went to Segesta and Selinunte, you buy a ticket at Segesta which also gives you access to Selinunte. Then, a daytrip to Monreale, with its beautiful cathedral, and Palermo, because we wanted to visit the archeological museum, where all kinds of excavations from Segesta and Selinunte can be found. The food is also quite good, we went to Agriturisma Tarantula, very good food at an affordable price, with wine tasting. We also dined at La Batia, also good and a very nice cozy restaurant.

In Balestrate we’ve been to Il Cavallino Bianco, where we had pizza. Also very nice and good, definitely recommended!
Everything was very well organized, the transfer to and from the airport, everything was perfect!

The house, casa nell’antico Baglio, was super nice! The garden with citrus trees! Renting a car is a must: if you’d like to visit something, you really need a car. When needed, Laura and Martin help you with anything and that’s really appreciated! We were there at the time when the olives were harvested and have helped harvesting olives with a neighbor. Really great fun to experience. What we also noticed is that the people are really friendly.”

“Dear Laura & Martijn,

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Tannura! The children were able to play in the garden and we were often on the roof terrace enjoying the spring sunshine.

We thought the food at Oltremare was very tasty and our children really like the Cavallino Bianco. We really appreciated your town map, with which we could easily find our way. We made several trips and had enjoyable walks. We really loved the nature reserve, we have even been there twice!

Thank you for the good care, we will definitely be back again!

“We are back home in the cold Netherlands… So for now no more tasty pizzas from Cavallino Bianco, or delicious fish at Oltremare, scenic views, ancient temples, beautiful bays, making sand castles on the beach, visiting picturesque villages, playing in the courtyard and ice cream sandwiches. We will miss it all, because we have had a wonderful holiday. We are already counting down to the next vacation on your beautiful island. Then we’ll definitely choose the Barone again, because we all thought it was superb!

See you soon (only 237 more days),

Villa Veneziano

“Hi Laura and Martijn,

We’ve had a lovely holiday in villa veneziano. There was enough room for the 10 of us. It has a great garden with swimming pool which was frequently used by the children. The temperature was good. Thanks to you we had a lovely dinner in a pizzeria in Alcamo. Highly recommended! Scopello is a really cozy and beautiful little town. A couple of times we went to the beach in San Vito Lo Capo. A beautiful area. We also made trips to Trapani and Erice. The days went by very fast. It was definitively an experience to repeat some other time. You were very hospitable and were always there when we needed you. Great!

Borgo delle olive

“At Christmas time in 2010, we traveled to Sicily with our three sons, their partners and our grandchildren. Via the Internet we had booked two apartments in the Borgo del Olive. It has been a great success and Laura and Martijn made a significant contribution to a wonderful holiday.

They not only perfectly organized the transfer from the airport in Trapani, the car rental and the reception at the Borgo, but they also arranged a Christmas dinner in a restaurant in a convent and an authentic birthday cake for our son, they gave valuable tips and their knowledge of the island and the language, helped us really enjoy our stay. One phone call and they took the time for you.

And when also the apartments are exceptionally beautiful and the children can play safely in the courtyard and the island (with lots of places of interest) exudes a wonderful atmosphere, even in the winter time, you have no problems to contribute to the guestbook.”

Appartamento Mandarino

“At the end of May we came back from a fabulous trip to Sicily. We had been looking for the perfect formula for a nice holiday for our son (3), but also for us – becvause we love to combine culture, beach / sea and nature.

It was the first time we rented an apartment and it was a big success. The view from our apartment was even better than the photos on the website. Everything was perfect: our car with a child seat, transfers to and from the airport. Actually we knew that everything would be fine, because Laura and Martin already showed a great professionalism and enthusiasm in answering our many mails, proceeding our booking.

The area was also worth it and we managed without any problems to make a daily trip without driving more than one hour per trip by car, which, because of our son, we found important. We visited Sicily only for one week. We really succeeded this week, with the additional tips from Laura, to fulfill our wishes. And as an extra bonus, we experienced the warmth of the Sicilians!

Definitely a must holiday destination!
